1. A running toilet

6. Worn-out seals and supply lines
The braided supply lines and valves behind toilets, sinks, and appliances degrade over time. A small seep at a connection won’t flood the room but will quietly add to the bill.
7. A faulty water softener
If you have a softener that’s stuck in a regeneration cycle, it can run water continuously to the drain. It’s an easy one to overlook.
